Branch Counsellor's Message

Dear All,

It gives me immense pleasure to write this message for the new website of PICT IEEE Student Branch (PISB). It is a great contribution by PICT IEEE Student Branch, which provides an opportunity for all, including student members, to showcase their talent, views and further strengthen IEEE activities.

PISB has always been a platform for all the students to learn and polish their skills in various fields. The students, faculty and professionals alike have always aimed to enhance the awareness of technical developments and trends among all its members.

It is a great pleasure to serve PISB as a Counsellor. It is a really interesting, valuable and great learning experience to work at various levels in IEEE. As a counsellor at PICT IEEE Student Branch; as a Chair, Conference Committee at IEEE Pune Section; Vice Chair, IEEE India Council, IEEE Region 10 Students Activity Coordinator; and Member, MGA SAC, I am thankful to all the members of PICT IEEE Student Branch for their active support. In January 2018, I had an opportunity to attend IEEE Region 10 meeting at Yangon, Myanmar. I also got an opportunity to participate in IEEE Region 10 Annual General meeting which was held at Berjaya Langkawi Resort, Malaysia on 3th & 4th March. I also had an opportunity to organize R10 Sywl Congress at Bali, Inodnesia, 30th August to 2nd September, 2018.

I would also like to mention the strong support from Mr R.S. Kothavale, Managing Trustee, SCTR; Mr Swastik Sirsikar, Secretary, SCTR; Dr P.T. Kulkarni, Principal PICT and all the students who worked at this level. We try our level best to create an environment where students keep updating themselves with the emerging trends, technology and innovations. At PISB, many events are conducted throughout the year and widely appreciated by students, acclaimed academicians and industry professionals alike. The events include IEEE Day, workshops, Special Interest Group (SIG) activities, Credenz and Credenz Tech Dayz.

As branch counselor it makes me truly ecstatic to witness the substantial progress made by the members every year and PISB's role in the advancement of scientific knowledge and progressive ideas. I thank all the members for their contribution and interest. On behalf of IEEE R10 & IEEE Pune Section, I wish PISB all the success.

PICT IEEE Student Branch (PISB) was established in the year 1988 with an aim of inculcating a sense of technical awareness amongst its student members.
PISB aims to escalate the knowledge and trends in the diverse fields of technologies amongst its members. PISB upholds two major events every year - Credenz and Credenz Tech Dayz with the first one being conducted in odd semester and the latter one in even semester. PISB is also marked by its Women in Engineering (WIE) chapter, an initiative for empowerment of women.

Events

Credenz

Credenz is the annual technical symposium organised by the PICT IEEE Student Branch. Started in 2004, with a view to elicit the best out of each and every one, it has grown to become one of the finest technical events today. Credenz aims not only to infuse a competitive spirit among participants, but also widen their horizons in the ever-changing field of technology via myriad seminars and workshops. Participants get a chance to discover their talents, and thrive in numerous events like Clash, Bplan, RoboLIGA, WebWeaver, Pixelate, Cretronix, Paper Presentation and DataWiz. This is a unique chance for the students to go beyond the traditional spheres of academics, and make the most of their potential. It was this spirit of learning and discovery that inspired the team to put the entire social experience of the event online in 2009, through the arduous time of the swine flu which made social gatherings impossible. Following this great legacy, the team took Credenz ’10 to a whole new level, and now the PICT IEEE Student Branch presents to you Credenz ’18, a podium for you to nurture and cultivate your talents.

Credenz Tech Days

Credenz Tech Dayz(CTD) is organized by the PICT IEEE Student Branch annually, in the even semester, to coincide with the IEEE membership drive. CTD brings with it a gusto that is portrayed in the form of seminars by esteemed industrialists. These seminars provide a platform wherein the students are exposed to the latest innovations in technology. They also get an opportunity to interact with experts from the industry, thus giving them further insights into and helping them to develop their skills in the technical field. Many seminars were organized as a part of CTD’17. Experts from companies like IDEA Cellular, Airtight Networks, Tech Mahindra shared their knowledge with us. The seminars on “Robotics”, “Android App Studio” and “Gaming and Related Technologies” drew deep interest from the students, while those on “Wifi and IoT” and “Telecommunication unfolding” were also immensely appreciated. The seminars on areas like “3D-printing” and “Big Data” shed light on concepts heard by all but known to very few. A seminar on “start-up” was useful for learning more about how a business is initiated and works.

Impetus and Concepts

Impetus and Concepts is a technical event organized by PICT. This technical fest has eight events namely-Concepts, Pradnya, Pratibha, Naipunya, Tantra, Net Wars,Daksha and Chakravyuh which will be held on 23rd, 24th and 25th of March 2018. InC is an intercollegiate national level competition which has been catching the attention of corporate giants for sponsorship as well as guidance to budding entrepreneurs. Every year InC sets a platform for students to design, exhibit and watch their ideas come true. About 2400+ odd students participated from 150+ engineering colleges throughout India last year and we're confident to see even more this year.
